Do you make the jewelry yourselves?
 
No, we are not that talented. We do, however, have an appreciation for high quality handmade jewelry.

Where do you get the jewelry?
 
We cooperate with a number of individual artists. Artisans design and create their pieces in professional studios, basements, and in some cases with groups of other artisans. In the USA we currently work with jewelry designers from California, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and several American Indian communities in New Mexico and Wyoming. We have also been fortunate enough to showcase handmade pieces from Brazil, India, Indonesia and Italy. We continue to make new contacts, so with time, we hope include an even wider variety of artists.

The Highest Possible Standards


     The IGS Recommended Suppliers subscribe to the following standards of customer service.

Products1) An accurate description of goods, which includes:
... a) Disclosure of any enhancements.
... b) A clear image of the actual item, not something similar.

2) Inventory listed for sale should be in stock and available for immediate delivery. When exceptions occur, it should be clearly noted.

3) No substitutions should be made for out of stock items without the customer's knowledge and agreement.

Service4) Be willing to spend ample time answering questions and counseling clients.

5) Return phone calls and answer email in a timely fashion.

6) Return policy should be explained clearly and include:
... a) Information on how to return goods.
... b) Return period.
... c) How much will be refunded: purchase price, shipping costs, and restocking fees should be clearly expressed.

7) On line dealers should have a secure method for handling credit card information.

8) The Privacy Policy should be clearly expressed and easily located.

Do you have a catalog?
 
No, we do not. Our inventory contains mostly one-of-kind pieces of jewelry. Having a catalog therefore would not be practical because updating it would be a nightmare!

What is Sterling Silver?


Sterling silver is a white and highly reflective precious metal. Sterling refers to silver that is 92.5 percent pure -- which should always be stamped on the
metal. This standard is fixed by law and used to assure consistent quality among sterling products. Silver that is not described as "sterling" or ".925" has less pure silver content and will often be darker in color and less shiny.

What Causes Silver to Tarnish?


All sterling silver naturally tarnishes from exposure to air. A few things will speed this process are:- Applying hair color, body lotion or perfumes, showering, pool chlorine while wearing your jewelry.

How should I care for my gemstones?


To bring back sparkle from faceted gemstones, and to clean natural and polished gemstones use warm water, dish washing liquid and a soft toothbrush. Soak and brush inside the back of the setting and rinse.

How should I clean my sterling jewelry?


If you don’t have a silver cleaning cloth, the best way to clean is very simple and you probably already have what you need in your kitchen. Take a small bowl that will hold about a quart of water and line it with aluminum foil. Add hot water and a tablespoon of Tide washing powder (not liquid or with bleach) and stir. Place your jewelry in the solution for about 1 minute and rinse with clean water and air dry. If you have a build-up of dirt in hard to reach places, just put a little dish washing liquid in a bowl of water and soak over night. This will usually loosen the dirt enough that it will release itself or you may use a soft toothbrush. To keep your jewelry from tarnishing when not being worn, store it wrapped in a soft cloth and placed in a zip lock plastic bag.
